Carl (Butch) Sebree, FN, 66-68 (1947-2013)
Carl Arthur Sebree, 66, of South Pekin, passed away at 9:45 a.m. Thursday, October 31, 2013 at his home. Born February 2, 1947 in Peoria to Joseph Sebree and Dorothy Reaktenwalt-Best.
He married Evelyn Baize on April 15, 1970 in Peoria. She died on September 6, 2006. He later married Sabreena Herrin on April 17, 2009 in Pekin. Surviving are his wife; one son, Carl V. (Shannon) Sebree of Manito; four step-sons, Willie (Lisa) Robinson of Manito, Wilbur (Sandy) Robinson of West Peoria, Shawn Summa of Ft. Collins, Colorado and Shannon Summa of Pekin; one daughter, Shelly (Michael) Ferdon of Manito; fifteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Sandy and husband Jim, of Madison, Wisconsin, Nancy (Dave) Buley of Pekin, and Dena (Rory) Hinrichs of Marquette Heights. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
Carl served in the United States Navy during the Viet Nam War and was assigned to the USS Waddell (FN, ‘66-’68). He also served in the United States Army. He was a member of the Martin-Courtney Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4835 in Creve Coeur.
Carl was a truck driver for over 37 years and retired in 2008. An avid fisherman, Carl also enjoyed hunting, collecting coins, knives and guns, woodworking and spending time with his grandchildren.
Cremation will be accorded by Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be scheduled in the spring.
